Funny Story
I stayed up until the wee hours last Friday night finishing Funny Story by Emily Henry. After reading a nonfiction book about addiction, I had wanted something light. Henry delivered on light. The beginning of Funny Story had me giddy and giggling. However, the middle of the book dragged, and was reminiscent of her formulaic Beach Read. In fact, the two books shared some striking similarities, including the same notion of "weekly dates" among characters. And in both books, the storylines were super contrived. There was also a thread that didn't get tied up, about one character's job. I am a stickler! But if you're looking for a little escape with some spicy scenes, Funny Story does the trick.
